V-기가 바쁘게 — no sooner … than · the moment … — one thing hard on the heels of another

No sooner … than · the moment … — one thing hard on the heels of another. Korean grammar for advanced learners — Level 5B, lesson 4: 집 구하기와 자취 (Finding a room, living alone — a lease, the five checks before you sign, rental fraud, asking for repairs and cooking for yourself).

What it means

V-기가 바쁘게 says that the second thing happens the moment the first is done: 계약하기가 바쁘게 집주인이 바뀌었어요 'no sooner had I signed than the landlord changed'. It carries a sense of hurry, with no time to breathe: 월급을 받기가 바쁘게 월세로 다 나가요. Add -기가 바쁘게 to a verb; the tense goes only on the last verb. It is close to -자마자 but more hurried, and close to -기(가) 무섭게 from Lesson 4B-5.
