V-고 — -고 — 'and (then)' between two actions

-고 — 'and (then)' between two actions. Korean grammar for beginner learners — Level 1A, lesson 7: 주말에 뭐 했어요? (What did you do at the weekend? — the past tense).

What it means

-고 joins two actions — 'I did this, and (then) that'. Take 다 off the verb and add 고: it is the same after every verb, with or without a 받침 (보고, 먹고, 공부하고). The first verb never changes; the tense goes on the last verb, so 영화를 보고 친구를 만났어요 is all in the past, and 숙제하고 자요 is what you usually do. Each verb keeps its own object and place: 공원에서 산책하고 영화관에서 영화를 봤어요.
