N도 — also, too — 도 takes the place of 은/는 · 이/가 · 을/를

Also, too — 도 takes the place of 은/는 · 이/가 · 을/를. Korean grammar for beginner learners — Level 1A, lesson 9: 이거 주세요, 얼마예요? (This one, please. How much is it? — shopping and counting).

What it means

도 means 'also, too'. It goes straight after the noun and never changes — the same 도 with or without 받침: 저도, 빵도. 도 does not sit next to 은/는, 이/가 or 을/를; it takes their place: 저는 → 저도, 물이 → 물도, 커피를 → 커피도. So 'me too' is 저도 + the same sentence: 저도 학생이에요. Put 도 on the word that is 'also': 빵도 주세요 is 'bread too, please'. In a sentence with 없어요 it means 'not … either': 볼펜이 없어요. 연필도 없어요. A number and a counter stay where they were, after the noun with 도: 우유도 한 병 주세요.
