N에서 N까지 — from … to … — places, and how long a trip takes

From … to … — places, and how long a trip takes. Korean grammar for beginner learners — Level 1B, lesson 11: 서울역까지 어떻게 가요? (How do I get to Seoul Station? — transport and directions).

What it means

에서 … 까지 marks where a trip starts and where it ends: 학교에서 서울역까지, 'from school to Seoul Station'. 에서 goes after the starting place and 까지 after the place you reach, and neither changes with 받침: 집에서 학교까지, 서울에서 부산까지. Each can also stand alone: 서울역까지 어떻게 가요? To ask how long a trip takes, use 걸리다: 얼마나 걸려요? — 삼십 분 걸려요. In Lesson 4 you learned 부터 … 까지 for times (아홉 시부터 한 시까지); for places, use 에서 … 까지.
