N부터 N까지 — from … to … — times, days and opening hours

From … to … — times, days and opening hours. Korean grammar for beginner learners — Level 1B, lesson 4: 왜 늦었어요? (Why were you late? — giving reasons).

What it means

부터 marks when something starts and 까지 when it ends: 아홉 시부터 한 시까지 'from nine to one'. Put them straight after a time word — a clock time, a day, a month or a date. They are the same with or without 받침, and each can stand alone: 내일부터 'from tomorrow', 밤 열 시까지 'until 10 p.m.'. Ask with 몇 시 or 언제: 몇 시까지 해요? 언제부터 한국어를 공부했어요? For opening hours Koreans simply use 하다: 도서관은 밤 열 시까지 해요. The verb at the end carries the time: 어제 일곱 시부터 아홉 시까지 공부했어요. For places (from Seoul to Busan) Korean uses 에서 … 까지 — that comes in Lesson 11.
