By doing … · through N — the written-style means of a plan (N(으)로써, Lesson 4B-1, now with verbs and with 통해서). Korean grammar for advanced learners — Level 5A, lesson 10: 자기소개서와 학업 계획서 (The personal statement and study plan — an AI draft versus your own experience, and a mock interview).

What it means

In writing and formal speech, these say by what means something is done: 자료를 비교함으로써 공통점을 찾고자 합니다 'by comparing the data, I intend to find what they have in common'. -(으)ㅁ으로써 is Lesson 4B-1's N(으)로써 on a verb — first turn the verb into a noun with -(으)ㅁ: 비교하다 → 비교함으로써, 읽다 → 읽음으로써. N을/를 통해(서) goes on a noun and is softer and more common: 대화를 통해서, 경험을 통해, 면담을 통한 조사. What follows is usually -고자 합니다, -겠습니다 or -(으)ㄹ 수 있습니다. In everyday talk, use N(으)로 or -아/어서 instead.
