Do nothing but … · be nothing but … — only one action, or only one quality (standard item 254). Korean grammar for advanced learners — Level 5A, lesson 8: 일하는 사람들 (People at work — jobs changing with AI and remote work, and a panel discussion).

What it means

V-기만 하다 says someone does only one thing and nothing else: 처음 2주 동안은 선배들 일을 보기만 했어요 'For the first two weeks I did nothing but watch my seniors work'. With an adjective it means 'purely, entirely': 요즘은 일이 재미있기만 해요 'these days my work is nothing but fun'. It often appears as -기만 하고 … 안/못 하다: AI 요약을 믿기만 하고 원래 자료를 보지 않았어요. N만 is for nouns; -기만 하다 is for verbs and adjectives. The tense goes on 하다: 보기만 했어요.
