With … still … — a pose or a state that stays (Lesson 4A-11, now for photos and posture). Korean grammar for advanced learners — Level 5A, lesson 1: 프로필 사진 속의 나 (Me in my profile photo — describing looks, clothes and first impressions in the age of retouching).

What it means

V-(으)ㄴ 채(로) says that one state stays as it is while something else happens: 안경을 쓴 채로 사진을 찍었어요 'she had her photo taken with her glasses still on'. You learned it in Lesson 4A-11; today it describes poses and people: 고개를 숙인 채로 'with the head lowered', 팔짱을 낀 채로 'with arms folded'. After a 받침 use -은 채로 (앉은 채로), after a vowel -ㄴ 채로 (쓴 채로), and a final ㄹ drops (다물다 → 다문 채로). It never takes -는, because the state comes from something already done. 로 can be dropped, especially in writing: 고개를 숙인 채 웃고 있었다.
