I noticed … · it was …, I found — passing on something you experienced yourself, shorter and softer than -더라고요 (and not -대요, which is hearsay). Korean grammar for advanced learners — Level 5B, lesson 1: 캠퍼스 첫 학기 (First semester on campus — orientation, clubs, seniors and juniors, cafeteria life, and turning down a drink).

What it means

A/V-데(요) lightly passes on something you experienced yourself: 학식이 생각보다 맛있데요 'the cafeteria food was better than I expected, I found'. It is shorter and softer than -더라고요. Attach -데요 to any stem, (이)데요 to a noun, -았/었데요 for something already done when you saw it; 반말 is -데. It sounds like -대요 but is different: -대요 is what someone told you (맛있대요), -데요 is what you found yourself (맛있데요). Not for your own deliberate action; with a teacher or in a talk, -더라고요 is safer.
