N(이)고 N(이)고 —밤이고 낮이고 공부해요 — N1 or N2, it makes no difference — all of them · all the time

N1 or N2, it makes no difference — all of them · all the time. Korean grammar for intermediate learners — Level 3B, lesson 10: 오늘 뉴스, 무슨 이야기예요? (What's in the news today? — comparing two sides).

What it means

N(이)고 N(이)고 names two things — often two ends of a scale, such as men and women, night and day, adults and children — and means 'it makes no difference which: all of them'. 남자고 여자고 다 좋아해요 'everyone likes it, men and women alike'. After a 받침 add 이고, after a vowel add 고, and each noun takes its own form: 어른이고 아이고. The sentence that follows usually has 다, 모두 or 누구든지 to make 'all' clear, and 할 것 없이 'without telling them apart' makes it stronger: 남자고 여자고 할 것 없이 다 넘어졌어요 'every single person fell over'. Time pairs mean 'all the time': 밤이고 낮이고 공부해요 'I study day and night', 주말이고 평일이고 'weekends and weekdays alike'. It also works in negative sentences: 밥이고 물이고 아무것도 못 먹었어요 'I couldn't eat or drink a thing'. Compare N(이)나 N (Lesson 2A-1), which picks one or the other, and 누구든지 · N(이)든지 (Lesson 3B-2), 'any one at all'. N(이)고 N(이)고 is mostly spoken and a little emphatic; the verb at the end takes any tense.
