정리 1 — review: describing people — what you see, how they act, what others say about them (Lessons 5A-1, 5A-2)

Review: describing people — what you see, how they act, what others say about them (Lessons 5A-1, 5A-2). Korean grammar for advanced learners — Level 5A, lesson 12: 5A 정리 · 나의 진로 서류함 (Level 5A review — my career file).

What it means

Level 5A gave you a whole kit for describing people. What you see: N에 N (5A-1) joins two parts into one picture — 갸름한 얼굴에 긴 생머리 — and V-(으)ㄴ 채로 (5A-1) keeps a pose — 안경을 쓴 채로. The contrast -지 (5A-1) corrects a wrong reading — 피곤한 거지 아픈 게 아니에요. How they act: -는 척하다 (5A-2) is acting out something untrue. The outside view: -다는 소리를 듣다 (5A-2) is what people say, -다는 인상을 주다 (5A-2) the impression you give. Two more from 5A-1 and 5A-2: -는 둥 마는 둥 (only half done) and -게 생겼다 (a bad result is coming).
