N에 한하여 · N에 한해(서) — only for · limited to — the line that tells you whether a rule applies to you

Only for · limited to — the line that tells you whether a rule applies to you. Korean grammar for advanced learners — Level 5A, lesson 4: 모집 요강을 읽다 (Reading the admissions guide — applying to a university or graduate school: deadlines, documents and the visa).

What it means

N에 한하여 says that a rule applies only to some person, time or thing: 외국인에 한하여 지원할 수 있습니다 'only foreigners may apply'. It attaches to a noun (the shorter 에 한해서 is the same), and what follows is what is allowed — 할 수 있다, 가능하다, 받다. Before another noun the form is N에 한한 N: 재학생에 한한 안내 'information for enrolled students only'. The meaning is that of N만, but the place is a notice, a rule or a guide; in speech say N만.
